I SUPPOSE I AM ALRIGHT WITH DEATH by C. Hiatt O’Connor

After W.S. Merwin
It is an untimely cloud
beneath the spring sun
which regresses the season
and hardens the sap
the geese share their skin and I shiver
in shade all time is
confused I ask
can you not share the light
just a little longer?
